For what is a church but dreams and hopes and yearnings? And what is worship but the longing of the lonely human heart?   -- Rev. A. Powell Davies

Prelude: None of Us Are Free (Solomon Burke recording)

Welcome/Announcements

*Hymn #389Gathered Here

Introduction

Opening Words

Lighting the Chalice Flame (in unison):
With full hearts, we affirm our relationships with one another; we recognize our agency and our connective power; and we accept our responsibility to be bold and courageous. We light this chalice, symbol of all that we are, all that we have done together, and all that we will be as our shared ministry encourages those within, and beyond, our walls

*Hymn #123: Spirit of Life

Affirmation (in unison) Love is the spirit of this congregation and service is its law. This is our great covenant: to dwell together in peace, to seek the truth in love and to help one another.

Poem by Rev. Marta I Valentin (read by Amy Stauber)
