1stUUPB grant recipient DePorres Place Adult Literacy Center, conveniently located at 1016 Dixie Highway, 2nd floor, West Palm Beach FL 33401 is seeking volunteer tutors.
The usual meeting time is twice a week for 1 1/2 hours but I meet with my Haitian man for 2 hours on Monday afternoons, when it fits into my schedule. With snowbirds leaving, the Literacy Center is seeking new volunteers.
The setting is quite ideal with individual rooms for a tutor and student/s. There is abundant and safe parking directly across the street from the Center. The director Judy Ireland and associate director Linda Kramer are lovely people and effective leaders. Both Marilynn Thomas and I have been recent volunteers there.
