Lighting the Chalice Flame (in unison):
We light this flame, symbol of who we are, all we have done together, and all that we will be, as our shared ministry encourages those within and beyond our walls.

*Hymn #360: Here We Have Gathered

Quiet Time/ Meditation/Prayer

Reading: from the NY Times Columnist David Brooks

Responsive Reading #637: A Litany of Atonement

Offertory: Riviere by Einadui

Affirmation: Love is the spirit of this Congregation and service is its law. This is our great covenant to dwell together in peace, to seek the truth in love and to help one another.

*Hymn #95: There is More Love Somewhere

Sermon: Covenant: Our Promises to Each Other   Larry Stauber

Extinguishing the Chalice Flame (in unison) We extinguish this flame, but not the light of truth, the warmth of community, or the fire of commitment. These we carry in our hearts until we are together again.

Volunteer for the Sanctuary Congregation Planning Committee

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED to form a Sanctuary Congregation Planning Committee.  Last year, we voted to become a sanctuary congregation for "Dreamers", those covered by the DACA program. Given the current uncertainty about the future of DACA, it is critical that we have a plan in place should we be called upon to provide sanctuary.  Please contact Dan Lambert revdan@1stuupb.org, or Ramsay Laing ramsay.laing@gmail.com .
