I immigrated from Cuba when I was 12 years old and have lived in West Palm Beach ever since. I wasn’t raised in a religious household and was never really drawn to Christianity. At around this same time, however, I started learning about New Age philosophy, mysticism, and magick. It wasn’t until college that I had the courage to delve deeper into paganism and have found it to be a very grounding and fruitful journey ever since. I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Anthropology, but became a teacher after leaving the Master’s program at FAU.
I have taught middle school science for 4 years and I’m just finishing up my first year teaching elementary grade science. As a founder/member and sometime organizer of the Palm Beach Pagans, I have been able to engage in the life of this Congregation on and off for the past year. The support received for my other project of environmental activism, when the first Nature’s Spirit Conference was hosted this past January 28, was heart-warming. I am very pleased to now formally join the First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Palm Beaches and continue this work as part of the family.
